About the department
The department of Research Applications is part of the global Structure, Bioinformatics and Data Science (SBD) function area, providing informatics solutions to the research organisation in Novo Nordisk. We bridge life science research and computer science by designing, implementing and operating scientific IT applications supporting R&D.
The Research Applications department currently consists of 17 skilled and dedicated colleagues, being based at all major global research locations.
The position
We are currently in the process of transforming our scientific research application landscape and data infrastructure towards an agile and data centric informatics environment. You will help us with the technological assessment of the current state, the identification of gaps, the definition of requirements and implementation of our future information architecture.
You will proactively lead architecture activities related to our scientific applications as well as technically analyse, design, develop and implement commercial or co-developed applications. You will also contribute to proof of concept activities in collaboration with other teams and ensure the integration of novel applications in our current landscape.
As a subject matter specialist, you will help to develop our research architecture principle and guide colleagues in best practice IT architecture, like ensuring scalability and future-proof documentation.
You will contribute to innovation by identifying and evaluating current and emerging scientific application platforms and data trends.
Qualifications
Preferably, you hold a Doctorate degree or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems technology or related field with strong interest in life science. Previous experience (5+ years) in biopharmaceutical industry in a similar role would be highly favourable.
Solid knowledge of software architecture methodologies and good understanding of Oracle, SQL, .Net and webservice APIs together with working experience in a mixed Windows/Linux environment is expected. In addition, you should be familiar with Big Data concepts and solutions (e.g. cloud computing, data lake).
Since all work takes place in multidisciplinary project groups, good interpersonal communicative skills and the ability collaborate with domain experts are essential.
