The Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for an Associate Professor position in Mathematics. The position is open from 1 May 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Applications in all areas of mathematical research are welcome. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research programme is in geometry, broadly defined, as well as in probabilistic methods in mathematics. Other areas of interest include, but are not limited to, algebra, analysis, number theory, or mathematical physics. The successful candidate is expected to have an internationally recognized record of outstanding achievement in research, having made ground-breaking contributions to the applicant's area of specialization, and to have strong teaching credentials.

Applicants are required to have university level teaching experience, documented teaching competencies and must be able to explain and reflect upon own teaching practice and portfolio. Formal pedagogical training or supervision equivalent to the University of Copenhagen teacher training programme for assistant professors is required.

Duties include the applicant’s own research, development of the field, assessment tasks, grant applications, and research management such as supervision and training of research fellows and other staff. The successful applicant must also teach, supervise, prepare and participate in examinations, and fulfill other tasks requested by the Department.

Assessment of applicants will primarily consider their level of documented, original scientific production at an international level, including contributions to developments in their field, as well as their documented teaching qualifications. Managerial and out-reach qualifications of applicants including ability to attract external funding will also be considered.

The Department is a leading mathematics institution with a vibrant international research environment that spans several areas of pure and applied mathematics. It has strong groups in, e.g., topology, number theory, operator algebras, mathematical physics and quantum information theory. The department teaches a large portfolio of undergraduate and graduate courses both for students in the mathematical sciences and for students of other subjects at the Faculty of Science.

Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.

Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

Commencing salary is currently up to DKK 467.099 including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 79.874).

Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
