The Niels Bohr Institute announces independent post-doctoral positions focused on areas of interest to DARK.

Located at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, DARK’s areas of research include, but are not limited to: observations, simulations and theory of astrophysical transients and cosmic explosions (including gravitational waves, tidal disruption events and supernovae), neutrino astrophysics, high-redshift galaxies, dark matter and dark energy, black holes and AGN, and cosmic dust. DARK Fellows are invited to work with DARK faculty (professors Enrico Ramirez-Ruiz, Irene Tamborra, Jens Hjorth, Lise Christensen, Marianne Vestergaard, Steen H. Hansen) and junior professors at DARK.

Areas of specific interest for this round of applications are theory and observations of transients, including dust-forming supernovae. However, we stress that we accept applications within all areas of interest to DARK, including those listed above.

Fellows are encouraged to interact with scientists at other research centres in the Copenhagen area, including the Niels Bohr International Academy, the Center for Cosmic Dawn, the Center for Star and Planet Formation, and DTU Space.

Terms of salary, work, and employment
DARK Fellowships are typically for a period of 3 years with the possibility of extension.

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment according to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.

The basic salary is about DKK 35,500 (4,800 €) per month; a supplement can be negotiated depending on qualifications. In addition to the basic salary a monthly contribution to a pension fund is added (17.1% of the salary).
