We seek a dedicated Research Associate to join Novo Nordisk and participate in our cardiovascular research.

 

About the department

Cardiovascular Research is a new department in Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s new strategy within chronic diseases, this department has a focus towards target identification, validation and pre-clinical progression of new treatment options for atherosclerosis and chronic heart failure. Currently, the department consists of 17 employees and 5 PhD students. We develop, characterise and use in vitro assays, mode-of-action studies and animal models for early evaluation of drug candidates. Laboratory work is carried out by technical staff and scientists as well as outsourced as contract research.

The position

We are seeking a talented Research Associate to join our in vitro biology team. You will be working with in vitro experimental work within heart failure and/or atherosclerosis biology. You will join our dedicated teams of scientists and laboratory technicians and be part of the daily work in our laboratories. You will design and troubleshoot experiments based on knowledge from the literature as well with support from our scientists. You will handle primary cells & cell lines. In addition you will establish, perform assays, or other experimental investigations of the cells, and deliver high quality data and results to our internal projects. Substantial part of the work will occur in the laboratory.

 

Qualifications

You hold a Master’s degree or similar education with a strong experimental background in cell biology. We seek an individual with expertise in cell biology and in vitro cellular assays related to cardiovascular disease (cardiomyocytes, endothelial cells, smooth muscles cells, monocytes and macrophages, including cell lines and primary cells). You have experience in developing and validating in vitro assays with key functional readouts. Experience in methods like ELISA,secondary messenger assays, western blot, IP, IHC, and microscopy is an advantage. Furthermore, competences within screening & pipetting robots are valuable. Skills in programs like Excel and Prism are important. In addition to your scientific profile, you are a dedicated, open-minded, team player, with good collaboration skills, organized, and result oriented.
