We are now seeking a Lead Data Analyst (Maternity Cover) to join us in Data & Analytics, to support our commercial, operational and product departments with clear and insightful analysis of the big data at hand.  To succeed in this role you should have a strong interest in using data to enhance business strategy, and excellent skills in data manipulation, visualisation and communication.

The Role    

As Lead Data Analyst your focus will be on how we use data within our organisation to drive forward strategy and decision-making. You will work closely with business, product and engineering stakeholders to develop and influence our data-driven decision making processes. As a Lead, you will also lead and mentor more junior team members within the same functional area, and drive forward our analytical projects. You will use your analysis, modelling, text mining, and data engineering skills to drive new knowledge and help identify ways in which we can drive forward good business strategy. 

You will be part of a specialised team that expects you to contribute with challenging and great ideas about how we can improve and extend our data-driven business processes, whilst offering you the opportunity to work with leading data technologies.  You will work with multiple sources of data, including from our product and commercial systems. 

About You

• Minimum BA/BSc degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related quantitative degree (MSc/PhD preferred)
• 4-5 years of relevant experience in a similar job role, preferably in the technology sector or in a technical consultancy
• Experience in mentoring/leading junior colleagues
• Excellent at building models from data: you have extensive experience with analytical and quantitative problem solving
• Experience of working with large datasets, and demonstrated knowledge of aggregating, cleaning, combining and analysing data
• Experience using Python and/or R & SQL for data manipulation, modelling and scripting
• Experienced in working with a mix of data formats and structures
• Strong skills in data visualization
• Great communicator - both with technical colleagues and with business stakeholders
• The ability to work independently/to be able to drive forward ideas to outcomes
