Are you ready to drive products and technologies with focus of grid integration of Vestas Renewable Hybrid Power Plants? Do you have the experience and the interpersonal skills to act at the highest levels of product and technology development in a fast-moving business? Are you a technical light house and do you act with conviction in complex and cross functional projects?

We are looking for a Lead Senior Specialist of Power Plant Engineering who will have full technical accountability and decision power in Power Plant Engineering and as such act as technical head. In this position you will oversee, and be accountable for, a technical domain at a very high level by coordinating highly specialised and dedicated engineering teams.

In Power Plant Engineering, we focus on product development as our main activity. We lead early scoping and execution of technology activities. All of this is built with our deep power system-, control- and SW knowledge and based on the understanding of the market and connection code development.

In Power Plant Engineering we work with the entire renewable hybrid power plant: control, electrical infrastructure, models and simulations.

In everything we do we strive to display strong leadership, and build products based on robust design.

As Lead Senior Specialist of Power Plant Engineering you will, together with the director of Power Plant Engineering, be in the leadership team of Electrical Engineering and report to the Vice President of Electrical Engineering, R&D.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for technology and product design of: plant real-time controls, main circuit and principal power plant components, power plant compliance with connection codes globally: in practice spanning from technology scouting and intellectual property rights, via guidelines and processes for best practice design and quality assurance, development of core competences, to qualification balance-of-plant equipment and active participation in standards working groups.

You will be working with these challenges together with- and through your technical leadership team:

• Define and drive technology- and product roadmaps aligned with the business strategy
• Make business cases and project scoping
• Act as technical head in especially the scoping phase of complex and cross functional projects
• Conduct IPR assessments and ensuring freedom to operate
• Ensuring quality by design reviews
• Represent Vestas in relevant working groups and committees
• Interface to academia and partnership projects
• Competence development

You will be accountable for the electrical solutions that form Vestas' power plant product catalogue. These are developed according to technology and product roadmaps aligned with the business strategy, defined and procured by you with and through your team of technical leaders.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. and probably a PhD in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 20 years of professional experience
• Extensive experience with industrial product design, technology development, business model development
• Working knowledge of power plant connection codes and technical requirements for connection agreements
• Experience from projects, procurement and commercial transactions with power system operators and planners, high-voltage power apparatus suppliers, power plant engineering consultants
• Track record of identification and delivery of new technology into products or installations
• Hands-on experience with modelling and simulation of power electronic and control equipment in power systems
• Hands-on experience with real-time control of power electronic converters
• Excellent communication skills in English orally and written
• International working experience would be advantageous
