National Oilwell Varco Subsea Production Systems (NOV SPS) designs and manufactures flexible pipes and specific,
innovative products for the offshore oil and gas industry. Headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, we leverage superior engineering and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology to establish long-term partnerships with global contractors and oil companies.
Advanced material modelling is important when designing advanced flexible pipes for demanding offshore applications.
NOV is strengthening our competences in this area and thus seek additional modelling specialists.
Material modelling is anchored in our material technology department, in the Polymer and Material Modelling team. This team has the technical responsibility of polymeric materials used in our flexible pipes and other subsea products as well as material models, modelling the material behavior for use in our design tools. Your work will for the most part take place at our HQ in Brøndby.
You will mainly work with physical/mathematical models and data for the polymeric materials used in flexible pipe applications. Depending on your background this could be analysis of gas diffusion in polymer materials and pipe structures, modelling of creep response of polymers under mechanical loading or modelling of material ageing phenomena. The solution procedures can be both analytical and numerical. Most of our experimental data is produced in our in-house laboratory or production facilities and with our focus on digital change we are looking for a person that can also partake in organizing our test data. Therefore, the main technical competences we are looking for are strong skills within physics, mathematics and data science. It will therefore be beneficial if you have competences and experiences in the following areas:
- Programming, preferable Python
- Analyses of experimental data
- Statistical analysis
Qualifications
You probably have a background in physics or chemistry and have solid experience with programming. You like making systems more robust and making data readily available for analysis.
As a person you are out-going and a pro-active team player, working across engineering disciplines and have good communication abilities in an international environment with English as company language.
You work systematically and ensure good documentation of performed work.
The material technology department in Flexibles is located at Brøndby where we act as a global competence and knowledge center for the organization supporting primary our Danish and Brazilian manufacturing facilities. Our product operate at extreme conditions and needs optimal technical solutions to obtain required performance. We are currently 40 engineers and technicians with broad competences on steel, corrosion, polymers, material modelling and composite materials. The technical level and requirements are thus high, and we are proud of our professional approach.
