A 3-year postdoc position is available in peptide chemistry at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Centre for Intestinal Absorption and Transport of Biopharmaceuticals (CitBio) at DTU Health Technology, headed by Professor Thomas L. Andresen.
CitBIO combines basic and applied research with the aim of increasing bioavailability of orally administrated drugs through innovative peptide engineering and nanotechnologies. CitBIO encompasses a broad interdisciplinary research profile consisting of chemists, biologists, material scientists, microscopists, and medical doctors along with both experimental and theoretical physicists. This allows for application of a wide palette of scientific techniques, including chemical syntheses, biophysical assays, artificial model systems of the intestine, optical microscopy, theoretical modeling, and animal studies, enabling detailed mechanistic studies of drug candidates.
Responsibilities and tasks
As a postdoc at CitBio you will be working in a highly international and interdisciplinary environment.
You will responsible for the progress of the chemistry area by:
- Designing and synthesizing new peptides
- Having a close collaboration with the other research areas within the center
- Communicating research ideas and results at center meetings, to external collaborator, at conferences and in scientific journals
- Supervising PhD and MSc students
- Ensuring a functioning and essential equipment setup
The successful candidate should have:
- A strong scientific background in organic synthesis - experience with peptide/protein synthesis and modification in an advantage
- An understanding of other disciplines such a biophysics, biology etc.
- A high degree of independency and personal motivation. Creative and critical thinking skills are vital for the success of the project
- Excellent communication skills in English
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a PhD in organic chemistry or equivalent. Experience with peptide synthesis and - engineering is an advantage.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
The job will be based at DTU Health Tech, Lyngby Campus - close to Copenhagen. The candidate should be able to start as soon as possible.
