Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Professorship with special responsibilities in International Business at the department of International Economics, Government and Business (EGB).

Core research areas of the Department of International Economics, Government and Business bring together the study of states, markets, and international firms in the context of the challenges faced by emerging and advanced economies. EGB’s research is based on international business, economics, and politics, and is of direct relevance to business, policy-makers and scholars. Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching in the programmes International Business, International Business and Politics, and International Business in Asia. Examples of research areas that the professor might cover:

• Emerging and developing economies
• R&D and technology diffusion and internationalization
• Strategies of multinational corporations and their subsidiaries

The Professorship is time-limited to a period of 5 years, with the possibility of a 3-year extension. At the expiry of the employment as professor with special responsibilities, the applicant will continue his/her career as associate professor at Copenhagen Business School, if not promoted full professor.

Successful applicants must have an international profile, a strong record of research publications, and teaching experience in International Business. They must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research and teaching, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with industry.

To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department as well as maintaining and establishing broad links across CBS.

Responsibilities

• Personal research meeting high international standards, including responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching.
• The academic development of discipline.
• Research management, initiation of research projects, supervision of PhD students, international research co-operation, reviewing for academic journals.
• Research education and further training of researchers, supervision of assistant professors and assessment committee work.
• Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education.
• Promoting CBS’s academic reputation.
• Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects.
• Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School.
• Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks.
• Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular.
• Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.

The position carries a special responsibility for developing Copenhagen Business School´s education in the area of International Business. In addition, the professor is expected to participate in the development of International Business research, including the strengthening of Copenhagen Business School’s international network in the area.

Applicants are expected to formulate a 4-5 page research proposal in which they outline a project that within a 5 year period can be research at a professorial level. Project abstractJV_description should outline the research idea, methods, and a plan for funding.

Qualifications
The successful applicant must have a strong record of original research publications at an international level as well as substantial teaching experience in relevant disciplines.

In addition emphasis will be given to the applicant’s ability to assume research and data management and other relevant management functions.

Applicants must be able to document relevant, significant, original, and current research at an international level in the field of International Business.

Furthermore applicants must document pedagogical qualifications and competences at development and innovation in the pedagogical area.

The applicant must have professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).

Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic association plus an allowance.

6. Information indicating experience in research management, industry co-operation and international co-operation.
7. A complete, numbered list of publications (indicating abstractJV_titles, co-authors, page numbers and year) with an * marking of the academic productions to be considered during the review. A maximum of 10 publications for review are allowed. Applicants are requested to prioritise their publications in relation to the field of this job advertisement.
8. Copies of the publications marked with an *. Only publications written in English (or another specified principal language, according to research tradition) or one of the Scandinavian languages will be taken into consideration.

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.

The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.

Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
