About the department
The Intereaction Characterisation department resides in the division of Assay, Analysis and Characterisation in Global Research Technology at Novo Nordisk A/S. Currently, the department consists of 7 highly skilled employees. We characterise the binding properties of novel compounds towards their biological targets to guide the identification, optimisation, protein engineering and characterisation of novel drug candidates in the research projects. We collaborate closely with our colleagues from both the technology and biology units to elucidate the molecular mechanism for drug interaction, and with our colleagues from CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls) to establish assays for batch release of drugs. The work is organized in multidisciplinary cross-functional project teams, and we work in a flexible and highly collaborative setting. 

 

The position
We offer an exciting and challenging job, where you will generate, share and discuss research findings with highly experienced and motivated scientists in multidisciplinary research teams. The teams work with ambitious scientific goals, high-performance science delivery, data driven selection and timely progression of early projects for breakthrough treatments. You will provide information on binding kinetics or thermodynamics to assist affinity optimization, identification of binding epitopes, competition, species qualification, quality assessment ect. 

You will be responsible for establishing and applying methods for binding characterization and is expected to use a large part of your time in the laboratory. The qualified candidate is expected to critically analyse, interpret and report experimental data, and to evaluate and communicate their impact on the project. You will engage with stakeholders across the international organisation and with external research experts. Opportunities for coordinator or project management roles are dependent on qualifications and experience.

 

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate with expertise in protein interactions and drug research. You hold a PhD within a relevant scientific discipline, such as protein science, and have more than 3 years post-degree experience. 

You have established an excellent scientific track record & broad knowledge of and hands-on experience with binding kinetics and relevant technologies for assessment of molecular binding interactions such as SPR, ITC, MST, KinExA, Nanodisc. The preferred candidate has drug discovery experience from the pharmaceutical industry, and a solid international scientific network. Experience with automation and python for data analysis/modelling would also be considered an advantage.
