About the department
The Business Ethics Compliance Office (BECO) develops and leads the implementation of Novo Nordisk’s global business ethics (BE) strategy and compliance programme, which focuses on the prevention of fraud, bribery, and off-label promotion. BECO is also responsible for Novo Nordisk’s global systems and processes related to tracking of payments to healthcare professionals, as well as compliance with new data protection regulations.

BECO consists of 16 dedicated employees in Denmark and is part of Business Assurance (BA) and further has a support team of nine people in our Global Service Center in India.

BA’s aspiration is to safeguard the Novo Nordisk values and license to operate by providing compliance and assurance services across the company. In addition to BECO, BA consists of Group Internal Audit, Facilitation and Organisational Audit. The global compliance organisation consists of approximately 150 employees across the world.

The position
The position as Compliance Counsel is anchored in the Strategic Operations & Advice team in BECO. The team is responsible for our BE Code of Conduct (CoC) and corporate requirements, training of Novo Nordisk employees, competency development of the global compliance organisation, trending and risk management as well as general communication activities within BE. The team is also responsible for governance and reporting to senior management in relation to BE compliance.

As Compliance Counsel, your key responsibilities will be to develop and manage our BE trend and risk management and reporting process and system and to ensure that our BE CoC and requirements are continuously up-to-date. You will also support your colleagues in providing advice and training to the global compliance organisation and the broader organisation as well as support the secretariats for our governance boards. Depending on your competences and fields of interests, you will get the opportunity to be involved in additional tasks and projects in close collaboration with your colleagues.

The position as Compliance Counsel offers a unique opportunity to obtain valuable insights into Novo Nordisk’s global BE compliance programme and related processes as well as how our business operates.

Qualifications
You hold a M.Sc. in law or commercial law with strong results. You are either a newly graduate or have a few years of experience, e.g. as in-house counsel working with corporate law and/or compliance, or from working in a ministry or government agency.

You are highly pro-active, analytical and structured. You are good at communicating complex issues in an easy-to-understand manner, both in person and in writing, and you speak and write English fluently. Interacting with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the organisation motivates you and you have a strong intercultural understanding.
