Do you understand the day-to-day obstacles to effective data science and are you passionate about optimizing our access and use of big data to improve the business performance? Then join us in a newly established position as Data Manager in OPF.

OPF is part of Novo Nordisk’s R&D family. We develop oral drug products and manufacturing processes in our pilot plants, as well as analytical methods. Our ambition is to develop the world’s first tablet products for diabetic patients based on orally available versions of pharmaceutical peptides.

 

About the department

The position is anchored in Oral Analytical Development which is responsible for developing analytical methods that are used to support development of the manufacturing processes as well as routine analysis for GMP productions.

The department consist of +35 highly skilled and dedicated analytical scientists and laboratory technicians. Together we represent many years of scientific experience in analytical sciences enabling us to innovate and solve exciting and challenging tasks. We collaborate very closely with early research departments, our pilot-scale production department and our large-scale manufacturing departments. One of the most critical parts in our business is the creation and sharing of analytical data internally and with our collaborating departments.

We have recently started a journey towards using more digitalisation, automation and better use of data. And we need your help!

 

The position

This is a new job type within NN R&D and you can look forward to playing a key role in shaping the future digital laboratory in OPF.

As a data Manager, your main mission is to improve data availability and validity and to interact with our 2 data scientists to understand how data needs to be converted, loaded and presented. In particular, you support our Data scientists by designing data architecture and infrastructure with the aim of ensuring optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from a wide variety of machines and equipment in the laboratory, using “big data” technologies. You build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into operational efficiency and other business performance metrics. You may also create big data warehouses that can be used for reporting or analysis by data scientists. The role will include hands-on implementation, documentation and also training of users in the department.

As a Data Manager you will also influence the strategic choices concerning technology and system choices helping bridge data availability across the entire organization.

 

Qualifications and skills

You have:

• A Master degree in computer science, statistics, maths or equivalent
• Experience in database management and maintenance
• Experience in database development and data model design
• Experience with some of the following programming languages: SQL, Python, R, Scala, Java, Ruby
• Experience in working with software and tools such as e.g. MySQL, Postgres, Redshift, BigQuery, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka

• Curious with a strong drive to get the job done on time without compromising the quality of your deliverables
• Good at collaborating with people with different backgrounds and with a desire and ability to learn the business and become an expert in the industry.
• Good at communicating complex content across functions, creating understanding and followship for your ideas
