Nets Legal & Compliance (Legal) is responsible for supplying legal advice and support to all group business units and for supporting the Nets’ top management. Legal is also ensuring that Nets is compliant in a highly regulated industry.

Legal plays a central role contributing to Nets’ strategic activities and offering professional feedback to the business as concerns stated objectives within growth as well as day-to-day operations. The department is headed by Nets’ General Counsel with reference to the CFO. We are a dedicated team of 23 attorney-at-laws/legal advisers, internally organised in minor and specialised teams, and we cooperate across both units and national borders.

The Data Protection Officer will be responsible for supporting Nets as a Data Controller in its continuous compliance efforts towards the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as national data protection legislation. You will be involved in all questions regarding data protection and advice on the legislation regarding data protection. 

Your key responsibilities in this role will be:

• To inform and advise Nets as Data Controller or Data Processor and the employees who carry out processing of their obligations pursuant to the GDPR and applicable local law privacy law, e.g. advising when purchasing new IT-systems, requirements of suppliers, prepare and update privacy policies, implementation of new data processing activities
• To monitor compliance with the GDPR and applicable local law privacy law and with the framework and policies stipulated by Nets in relation to the protection of personal data, including the assignment of responsibilities, awareness-raising and training of staff involved in processing operations, and the related audits
• To provide advice where requested about the data protection impact assessment (DPIA) and monitor its performance pursuant to Article 35
• To cooperate with the supervisory authority
• To act as the contact point for the supervisory authority on issues relating to processing, including the prior consultation referred to in Article 36, and to consult, regarding any other matter.

Your professional qualifications and background should include:

• Education of master level, preferably a law-degree,
• In-depth knowledge of data protection legislation (particularly the GDPR and the Nordic countries national legislation),
• Knowledge and understanding of information technologies and data security,
• Ability to effectively communicate complex legal information at a senior level and to all colleagues,
• Substantial experience within the field of data protection and privacy and preferably experience from the financial sector, and
• Ability to asses, recommend and implement relevant policies and processes having strengths in data analysis, problem solving and influencing change.
