Impact Assessment as a Spearhead service in Ramboll
Ramboll has chosen Environmental Impact Assessment to be a Spearhead service going forward. This means that Ramboll is investing in and focusing on Impact Assessment as a service we believe we can grow and deploy internationally.

Ramboll is already a leader in environmental and social impact assessment. More than 200 specialist works within the Impact Assessment practise area globally in Ramboll today. In most of our strongholds, e.g. in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and UK, Ramboll has a proven track record in delivering robust Environmental Impacts Assessments (EIA) and preparing Environmental Statements to secure development consent. Ramboll Environment and Health (REH) is a global business unit in Ramboll and is one of the world’s leading environmental consultancies. Our Environment and Health practise employs more than 2,100 engineers and scientists working on projects all over the world within the environment, water and waste sectors.

Environmental Impact Assessment in Copenhagen
The Impact Assessment Department in Copenhagen consist of around 20 employees. The technical background of the practitioners in the department is a mix of engineers, landscape managers, marine biologists, terrestrial biologists and physical geographers. The team in Copenhagen has for the last 15 years both been working on large national Danish EIA’s and big international ESIA’s for major capital projects within the Infrastructure sector, the Renewable sector and Oil & Gas, and this gives the team a combined national and international profile that will be important in the future international growth in the Impact Assessment Spearhead.

General characteristics of the role
The Head of Department main role is to develop the Impact Assessment Spearhead department and to secure performance. The role is both internally and externally focused and expected to share and coordinate excellent client and service knowledge, to position and brand Ramboll in the marketplace.

The Head of Department must have a one company mind-set and be able to translate and share knowledge of market trends and service offering into offerings to meet client´s needs. With strong industry and domain knowledge, the Head of Department maintain a client focus and lead strategic selling activities to develop the business for their region.

Necessary skills include strategic thinking, commercial and financial awareness, business acumen, managing risk, opportunity and ambiguity, communication, leading, internal changes, cultural intelligence and a global mindset.

Role Dimension
The Head of Department reports to the Spearhead Director and have a dotted line to the Danish Country Market Director.The head of Department work closely across the country, with the Global Division Director and the Global Sector leads in other countries and is a part of the Global Division Management team.

Responsibilities

People leadership

• Provide visible, tangible leadership based on the Ramboll Values and the Ramboll Enterprise Model.
• Ensure that all corporate and local HR processes are successfully implemented in the department.

Strategy and business plans

• Develop and implement a department business plan in line with Spearhead and PBU business plan and direct and coordinate the department to achieve this plan.
• Manage the day-to-day activities in the department.
• Contribute to the development of the global strategy in the IA Spearhead as part of the Global Division management team

Growth and Profitable performance

• Secure short term and midterm profitable performance of designated department according to the targets for the department.
• Contribute to the establishment of a department budget

Partnering and relations

• Promote the IA service portfolio towards customers and partners.
• Search, market, tender and implement projects in the best interest of the Ramboll Group as a whole, the IA Spearhead and the client.
• Ensure close relations between own department and related departments in all parts of Ramboll organisation.
• Represent the business in dealing with internal and external interests, with a responsibility to develop and maintain good relations with customers and partners.

Governance

• Ensure that Ramboll Code of Conduct is followed in all situations.
• Ensure that the department is in compliance with the Ramboll Governance Principles and Corporate Policies.
