PhD position in Valorization of Industrial Waste Streams from Tuber Processing - Sino Danish Center (SDC)

A PhD position within our research efforts within discovery of enzymes and design of enzyme process for upgrade of cassava and sweet potato processing pulp to both biofuel and higher value products (incl health promoting animal feed and food ingredients) is available from June 1st 2016. Institute affiliation: Experimental research work will be taking place in both Denmark and China. The SDC PhD project and education will benefit from having this double affiliation; the SDC PhD project aims at leading to a joint PhD degree between CAS and DTU. Supervision of the SDC PhD project: A supervisor to the SDC PhD project will be appointed from both China and Denmark: Chengdu Institute of Biology and Guangzhou Institute of Energy Conversion, both Chinese Academy of Sciences; and Center for Bioprocess Engineering, Institute of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark. Location of experimental work: The project work will go on at DTU, Dept. of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, and include project work periods at the two CAS institutes in China, mentioned above. The period of work in China will all in all add up to one full year. Qualifications We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with an MSc degree in chemical or biochemical engineering or related engineering sciences. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in the Chemistry, Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering programme of DTU.
