Core Responsibilities

As a senior mechanical engineer in Product Technology you will explore, develop and deliver robust mechanical solutions by utilizing a strong theoretical engineering toolbox and your experience from working in the industry. You will be part of a cross functional matrix organisation working closely with other engineering and design functions in the development of the technology-enhanced LEGO® products. You will have a lot of fun being in a passionate team of diverse people where you will spend your time on:

• Utilizing your strong skills in CAD systems (preferred NX) developing and maturing mechanical solutions

• Applying a strong theoretical and data driven approach to your work and adding to our technical capability pool

• Developing integrated mechanical solutions for Asia production balanced between functionality, quality and price

• Working closely with our Asia supplier platform to mature the developed solutions, you should expect about 4-6 weeks of travelling pr. Year.Primarily in China, Indonesia and Singapore.

At our headquarters in Billund, you will join the Product Technology department who delivers LEGO technology elements for experiences across all LEGO product areas - from simple light effects to market-leading digital/physical play experiences and educational tool kits. LEGO power function, LEGO Mindstorms, Pneumatics system, Actuators are among some of the components we develop in Product Technology.

Our team’s core responsibility is to be the glue between the other functions in Product Technology. You will find us in very early concept development helping our internal costumers making good decisions on concept directions and challenging the feasibility and manufacturability of the technology components. One of your colleagues says “We construct the outer and inner design in technology components, making sure we adhere to the electronics design, physical design, material selection, through intensive testing and validation”. At the Mass-production stage our team will run in the assembly line for the full component production in Asia.

Do you have what it takes?

In addition to being strong in development of solid and robust mechanical constructions you are an awesome collaborator, you are curious about the application of technology in a product context. You have an open mindset where you challenge limitations with a strong theoretical knowledge.

If you have experience with data driven toolbox such as Design For Six Sigma (DFSS or DMIAC) it would be a plus.

Furthermore we imagine that you:

• Have a BSc og MSc degree within Mechanical or Mechatronic engineering or equivalent

• Have 3+ years of experience with development of mechanical engineering solutions, especially with consumer electronics would be an advantage

• Have experience with the full value chain going from early design ideas to production matured solution

• Experience working with other cultures (Asia) running in production would also be an additional plus

• You are a strong team player and adaptive to change

• You may have some experience with mechatronics development, products containing Mechanical, Hardware, Firmware engineering challenges

• Last but not least, you communicate effortless in English
