Copenhagen Local/International Reservoir/Petroleum Engineering Ref.: MO-051280 The Halfdan field is operated by Maersk Oil (31%) on behalf of its partners Shell 37%, Chevron 12% and Nordsøfonden 20%. With production of around 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, Halfdan is the largest oil producing asset in the Danish sector of the North Sea. The field comprises two chalk reservoirs. The lower reservoir contains primarily oil, and is developed by a water flood line drive pattern with more than 60 ultra-long horizontal wells (typical horizontal section 16,000 feet, placed at a 600 feet spacing). The upper reservoir contains primarily gas, and is developed by 15 single lateral and dual lateral ultra-long horizontal gas production wells. The Halfdan subsurface organization comprises around 18 experts of multiple nationalities. There are two teams; an operational team responsible for reservoir management, and a field development team delivering reservoir models and field development plans. These two teams work closely together and interact frequently with the other functions within the asset organization. The position, within the operational reservoir management team, has a strong focus on well interventions, workovers and integrity management. • A dynamic and highly engaged working environment • A position in our Copenhagen, Oslo Plads office. There will be limited travel. • Opportunities for the right candidate, depending on your ambitions and capabilities, to grow into a leadership position: for instance in one of the two Halfdan subsurface teams, or in another part of the organisation. Key Responsibilities • Drive the Halfdan waterflood, by integrating available information and by identifying and implementing improvements. • Identify appropriate tools and procedures for well intervention activities, ranging from surveillance to conformance treatments • Integrate with the Reservoir Engineers, Petrophysicists and Well Services team for the definition, maturation and execution of reservoir surveillance campaigns utilising technologies such as PLT, DTS/DAS, and tracers • Well integrity management: utilise corrosion prediction models and surveillance to assist with workover initiation, planning and execution • Contribute to Corrosion and scale management efforts both in the subsurface and topsides • Liaise with the Halfdan study team to incorporate the analysis of the 4D seismic in surveillance and intervention plans • Estimate gains and deferments of well interventions • Introduce technology and concepts to address injector-producer shortcuts, caused by reservoir heterogeneity or uncontrolled fractured growth • Provide support for planning and execution of new wells following the stage gate process for well maturation • Technical presentations during Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) meetings with partners • Coaching and mentoring of less experienced staff Who we are looking for The preferred candidate should: • Be self-motivated, self-reliant, possess strong analytical, technical and communication skills, enjoy mentoring less experienced engineers and working in a multi-disciplinary environment and have the ability to engage and motivate others • Experience within mature waterfloods, well and reservoir management, production test analysis, production logging interpretation, fluid sampling and analysis, and good understanding of reservoir engineering, geosciences and well services • Have a thorough understanding of the uses and pitfalls of surveillance technology, like PLT’s, DTS, and DAS, tracers • Have a good understanding of completion and stimulation technologies used by Maersk and their impact on oil/gas recovery • Have a passion for integration of data, data analysis, and recovery process optimization • Have a practical mindset – working towards the ultimate company goal
