The Stat & Tax Controller reports to the CFO and is responsible for all statutory compliance for Microsoft companies in Denmark and Iceland, driving financial stewardship of these companies through adherence and compliance to Microsoft Accounting Policies, Local and International Accounting Standards and tax legislation.

The role involves training Finance and business stakeholders on tax or statutory requirements and working with external service providers such as Accenture, EY and KPMG as well as external parties such as the external auditors or the tax authorities.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Control

·        Managing relationship with our outsourced service provider for outsourced statutory accounting processes

·        Responsible for managing the entity income statement and balance sheet, including management and review of all account reconciliations

·        Assess the financial implications of the business and understand the risks associated with any change

·        Manage the smooth transition of projects into a business as usual state

·        Assess any changes in tax laws, local company law and accounting policies to assess impact and ensure compliance

·        Business partnering and active advisory work on tax and commercial matters

 

Direct & Indirect Tax Compliance

·        Responsibility for managing corporation tax and indirect tax processes and computations, taking responsibility to ensure accuracy of computations and timely filing with tax authorities

·        Maintain effective relationship with our professional tax and accounting advisors leveraging these relationships to mitigate financial and compliance risk

·        Responsible to understand and maintain local transfer pricing file

·        Manage relationship with European Tax Director

 

Statutory Accounts

·        Management of an efficient statutory audit process, working closely with our external auditors to ensure timely completion and filing of the annual statutory external audit and accounts for Microsoft legal entities

Payroll

·        Responsible to understand and maintain local transfer pricing file

·        Manage and co-ordinate monthly payroll review, approval and sign-off

·        Responsible over incentive compensation accruals and processes

·        Ensuring technical information and employee communication is relevant and up to date, together with HR

·        Effective management of outsourced payroll providers

·        Management of ad-hoc queries relating to monthly payroll

Qualifications

·        Strong ability to work independently and manage several internal and external stakeholders and parties

·        Master’s degree in finance/accounting related field preferable

·        5-10+ years relevant experience with proven track record of delivering strong results

·        Understanding of US GAAP and Local GAAP, Accounting, Controlling, Transfer pricing and Tax

·        Audit / Advisory experience seen as a benefit

·        Experience from Multinationals seen as a benefit

·        Fluent in English and interested to learn danish
