The Center for Energy Informatics, The Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for one or more 3-year positions as Assistant Professor in Energy System Modeling and Simulation. The starting date of the positions is April 1, 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The positions are part of the Danish lecturer training program and are expected to be continued into permanent Associate Professor positions upon completion. The Center for Energy Informatics was founded in 2013 and is an interdisciplinary research, development and innovation center that brings together software engineers, computer scientists, applied physicists, electrical engineers and social scientists in the application of information technology to facilitate the transition towards a sustainable energy system by intelligent integration and optimization of the energy flexibility found in buildings and industrial processes with the fluctuating energy supply from renewable sources, like wind and solar. The main tasks for the positions will be to participate in the continued development of the center’s research areas and the teaching at the Energy Technology Bachelor and Master Programs at University of Southern Denmark. Requirements and qualifications Candidates must have: •A PhD degree in energy engineering or similar •Documented experience with research dissemination in international scientificjournals and conferences •Experience with modeling and simulation tools within the topic area •Industrial experience •Experience with writing research applications or bidding for public tenders •Good communication skills in English •Self-motivation and ability to work independently Following qualifications are preferred: •Expert experience within modeling and simulation and have knowledge of theDanish energy system, especially power grid and/or the Danish district heatingnetworks •Experience with smart energy systems, community micro grids, resilience in smartgrids or smart cities •Knowledge of energy economics and energy markets •Experience in teaching and education •Ability to develop course curricula •Good communication skills in Danish Application, salary, and conditions of employment etc. Applications will be assessed by an expert committee.
