We would like to you be part of this journey. We Offer The Chief Geologist role resides in the Corporate Subsurface Department in Maersk Oil. As such, it is an integral part of a team providing functional leadership for the subsurface discipline areas and key processes across the company, including: • Delivery of subsurface technical quality through the building and deployment of technical capability across MO to match the needs of the business. • Supporting Growth and Business units in delivering business solutions and functional oversight including the setting of standards and appointments of technical authorities; the definition and propagation of best practices, preferred technical applications and ways-of-working, and the execution of assurance reviews,. • Responsible for the Maersk Oil Reserves and Resource management process. • Custodian of the Maersk Oil project maturation process. Key Responsibilities The Chief Geologist is the Global Discipline Head, responsible for the overall technical leadership of the geology discipline in Maersk Oil. In collaboration with the other subsurface Discipline Chiefs, the Chief Geologist has an important role in the building and deployment of technical capabilities within the geoscience community and stimulating technology development within Maersk Oil. The position reports to the Head of Corporate Subsurface. Work will primarily be carried out in Copenhagen, but the responsibilities and community are global, requiring communication with and travel to other Maersk Oil locations on a regular basis. Functional responsibilities include: • Identify and build the technical capability of the discipline to support MO business plans and future business requirements • Foster cross-fertilisation and workflow integration between the subsurface disciplines of Geology, Geophysics, Petrophysics, Reservoir Engineering and Production Technology. • Support broader integration with other functional areas in Maersk Oil (Wells and Global Operations for example). • Together with Growth and Business Units support the identification and deployment of key technologies and applications which Maersk Oil will require to meet the business needs. • Work with HR, Growth and Business Units on the deployment of My Career and other processes at the interface of HR with the technical disciplines to attract, develop, reward and deploy geological staff across MO. • Support the drive to strengthen Maersk Oil as a Learning Organization through continuous engagement in project evaluations and in the development and propagation of wise practice workflows and guidelines • Ensuring that appropriate technical assurance of work and deliverables across all geological areas is performed. Who we are looking for • You hold a relevant geoscience degree and a track record of driving and leading a Geology discipline function, either regionally or globally within an upstream O&G operator. • You have an extensive understanding of development and exploration Geology, including 15+ years of upstream experience gained within an upstream O&G operator • You have strong influencing skills and build rapport easily, in the discipline community and across the business. • You understand the importance of, and can facilitate integration across the subsurface disciplines and with the support disciplines. • You have proven leadership skills, and know how to coach, motivate and develop leaders and technical contributors at all levels in the discipline. • You have an interest in novel/innovative technology development and implementation • You are a self-starter and thrive in a fast paced multinational and multi-cultural environment Last a
