Technical Marine Support is a sub department of Business Support covering a wide range of support functions for Vestas Offshore Operating as one of the business units at Vestas Wind Systems A/S, soon to be a standalone Joint Venture company with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Vestas Offshore A/S focuses exclusively on selling, constructing and operating wind power plants at sea. With offices based in Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the United Kingdom we are responsible for Vestas’ involvement of offshore wind power plants worldwide. Responsibilities: You will manage and participate in the daily work in a primarily self-governing group of maritime specialists. The department consists of 4 experienced specialists. The department’s area of responsibility and hence your overall responsibility: Assessment of vessels and vessel personnel according to Vestas Offshore Safety procedures and other standards to ensure safe operations of vessels and to be able to prioritise cooperation with vessel operators with high safety standards. Getting to know all the relevant companies including their vessels that could have potential for the execution of Vestas Offshore projects. Develop and maintain relationships with the above mentioned vessel companies and the key persons in this area through visits and travel activity. To be updated on vessels, crane requirements, transportation of WTG components, capability, sizes, new constructions, developments etc. Participate in relevant internal and external meetings, which cover the future strategy for offshore vessels which are or could be related to ongoing and potential Vestas Offshore Projects Assessment of Offshore Project contracts and locate potential risks related to vessel conditions and execution. Maintain a thorough knowledge of legal requirements for vessel operation including crew skills, arrangement of equipment at vessels etc to be able to ensure all operations are aligned with legal and health and safety requirements and to be able to give management first class advice. Draw up reports on available existing and future crane and crew vessels, upcoming projects and other relevant information which make it possible to predict what the needs will arise in the future. Develop tools for stowage and handling of wind turbine components, project management during design, procurement manufacturing, test and take over Assist sales, construction and service functions to select vessels for installation and service assignments and prepare deck layout, loading arrangements, lifting plans and liaison with installation and service staff Participate in interface meetings with clients, vessel providers and other contractors to ensure that information and assignments are exchanged between parties and distributed and carried out within Vestas Offshore Develop and manage port and vessel logistics in connection with project implementation Participate in the negotiation of vessel contracts Qualifications: We are looking for a candidate who is organized, systematic and who can work independently. You have a background as a Marine Engineer, Master Mariner, Marine Surveyor Mechanical engineer (preferably, but not necessarily steel design and/or construction) or Naval Architect. You have previous experience with one or more of the assignments described above As a person you are dynamic, adventurous and are used to having a wide variety of tasks throughout your working day. Your diplomatic skills are highly developed, and cooperating with colleagues at all levels and different cultures comes naturally to you. Your energy reserves are large, which means that you are capable of working under pressure, while at the same time remaining service-minded and helpful. Consequently, you possess the flexibility and adaptability that is required to work on your own in a fast changing environment.
