The Mads Clausen Institute (MCI), part of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Sønderborg, invites applications for a position as Postdoctoral Associate within the field of Roll-to-Roll (R2R) processing of flexible devices in the form of organic solar cells and light-emitting devices. The Postdoctoral associate position has a time limit of 30 months. The starting date of the position is 15.08.2016. The position is related to the nanotechnology center NanoSYD at the Mads Clausen Institute. The position is part of the Interreg5A project RollFlex, which is a newly established innovation center between multiple university and industrial partners in Southern Denmark and Northern Germany, aiming at developing new flexible energy solutions from R2R processing. The candidate is expected to work on design, fabrication, and characterization of flexible R2R processed solar cells and light-emitting devices together with the scientific teams in the OPV and OLET groups at NanoSYD, and the technical R2R team at MCI. The fabrication includes both R2R slot-die coating of thin-films as well as R2R physical vapour deposition and R2R lamination processing. An important part of the work will be devoted to R2R innovation in the RollFlex project, where the candidate is expected to take part in establishing new innovation activities on the basis of the employed R2R technology together with relevant company partners. Candidates with experience in R2R processing and development of organic solar cells, OLEDs, and/or and/or flexible electronics will be preferred. The successful candidate must hold a PhD degree within a relevant academic field. Level of qualification is a PhD. If special circumstances exist employment may be extended for one year. Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree. The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time. Applications will be assessed by an expert. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
