DTU Management - Department of Technology, Management and Economics, Technical University of Denmark is searching for a dedicated and highly competent professor in the field of leadership, who will contribute to the process of establishing an internationally recognized research programme in leadership. We want to attract an exceptional individual to take a lead role at the Executive MBA at DTU, maintaining the head of programme position.

The successful candidate has extensive experience in areas such as leadership and adoption of new technologies and we expect you to set the scene and create visibility for DTU in the field of leadership.

Responsibilities and tasks

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to establishing an internationally recognized research programme in leadership and will be responsible for developing an independent, vibrant research and teaching portfolio in the general area of leadership and performance management. This includes development of a fundamental understanding of the role of management and leadership, attitudes and behaviour with special emphasis on aligning technological, social, organizational and personal factors to achieve excellent performance.

All teaching and supervision are conducted in English. For international candidates, DTU can provide Danish language courses enabling the candidates to teach in Danish within 2-3 years.

We expect you to:

• Contribute to establishing an internationally recognized research programme in leadership and performance management
• Be responsible for the leadership of the Executive MBA at DTU

In terms of collaboration:

• You are a team player and have the ability to motivate your colleagues to perform at their best and achieve ambitious goals
• The position includes collaboration with other research groups at DTU within the department, but also with other departments as part of the MBA programme
• We expect you to engage with external Danish and international partners and stakeholders to develop the field here at DTU
• You will engage in supervising PhD students and teaching master's level students
• You share your network and knowledge with younger researchers

Requirements and qualifications

The successful candidate must have a PhD following an academic career in areas such as: Organizational theory, leadership and leadership learning, innovation and knowledge management, industrial engineering and management or related areas and to have experience in the general area of leadership and adoption of new technologies.

The candidate:

• has a relevant PhD degree, perhaps an MBA, and has possibly combined research experience with leadership experience from industry
• can demonstrate notable achievements in teaching, supervision, and development of executive education
• has an international network to business schools and faculty

The successful candidate must be able to document:

• Outstanding, original scientific output
• Successful teaching and dissemination experience from previous academic career
• A strong background in, and an innovative approach to, leadership as well as the application potential of new insight
• A track record of academic cross-disciplinary collaboration
• A quantitative and qualitative research approach

• You strive to develop talent amongst others and share your knowledge and network with team members including younger faculty
• You are focused on the process as well as the outcome

• Documented experience and quality of teaching and curriculum development
• International academic impact and experience, funding track record and research vision
• Societal impact
• Documented innovation activities, including commercialization and collaboration with industry
• Leadership and collaboration
• Communication skills

Consideration will also be given to:

• Experience in executive education
• Documented experience from industry, innovation activities, including commercialization and collaboration with industry

The professor will be part of the Implementation and Performance Management Group at DTU Management. The group is fairly young and aspires to become one of the leading research groups, developing theories of leadership and implementation of new technologies and human performance management.

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
