The motorway runs directly past the outskirts of Randers, and Jutland’s largest town, Aarhus, is only a 30-minute drive away. In 45 minutes, you can reach Aarhus Airport. Randers offers the wealth of opportunities for leisure activity you expect from a major provincial town – for instance Denmark’s only rainforest (albeit roofed in). The location at the estuary of Denmark’s largest (and only actual) river, Gudenåen, has secured Randers an important place in Danish history; and the many beautiful houses of the central town bear clear witness to this. The town’s harbour is still a very busy one – commercially and as marina. We have close working relations at all levels with Aarhus University Hospital (AUH), located about 35 km from Randers. The Regional Hospital of Randers There are 21 emergency clinics Denmark; and, in Randers, the hospital has recently opened their new emergency clinic. This ward has 360 beds for patients needing medical care, abdominal-surgery, or orthopaedic-surgery, and for gynaecology and paediatric patients. The hospital also has a maternity ward with about 2000 deliveries each year. Moreover, the hospital's considerable outpatient activities comprise most medical specialities such as e.g. otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology and urology. Add to this the number of paraclinical departments represented by e.g. pathology, radiology diagnostics, plus clinical physiology and biochemistry. You can read more about the Regional Hospital of Randers on www.regionshospitalet-randers.dk The Radiology Diagnostics Department Modern and fully digitalised, the X-Ray and Scan Department comprises 2 MR scanners, 2 multi-slice CT scanners (a third CT scanner will be added in 2016) 3 high-end ultrasound scanners, 2 fully equipped mammography rooms with stereotactic radiotherapy, and 6 bone- and thorax rooms. The department employs a medical staff of 85, of which 14 (+ 1 vacant) are specialist doctors and 5 are advanced-level internship trainees. Because of the hospital's status as an emergency-clinic, the radiology department will be manned day and night – staffed by registrars and staff physicians on duty and by consultants on call. On-duty procedures primarily comprise CT, inclusive of trauma, and US, inclusive of intervention procedures. The hospital has been selected for participation in the National Bowel-Cancer screening programme; and the department takes an active part in this with respect to screening CT colonography, pre-surgical diagnostics and the handling of post-surgical complications. The medical specialists of the department primarily work within CT, MR, mammography, or ultrasound. Being a training department, all specialists are required to take part in the training of future radiologists. The department performs about 110,000 examinations on an annual basis. We have good collegial relations – within the department as with other disciplines. We have comprehensive cooperative relations with other specialist departments and with the general practitioners. The staff management comprises a head consultant and a senior radiographer.
