Technician for development and operation of ICP-MS analysis for research and education

We are looking for a structured, flexible and responsible technician or academic for our lab and field group of 15 technicians. We work cross-organizational and support the different sections at the department within the field of water, environmental engineering and sustainability.

Skilled technician for practical work with ICP-MS as the primary task

We need an experienced technician or an experienced academic for our laboratory. The primary focus is on ICP-analysis. Your passion should be in the practical work running and maintaining our ICP-OES, ICP-MS and SP-ICP-MS equipment. You will be daily responsible securing that our Metal laboratory is well functioning with a minimum of downtime.

Metal analysis pays a central role in many of our research projects at the department. Our researchers are dependent on our attention to quality in the analytical process. Thus we can offer a challenging position where you will be deeply involved in research projects.

DTU Environment is in the top of the development in Europe into single-particle ICP-MS for measurement of nanoparticles. Experience in this field will be attractive to DTU.

Dependent of your competencies and experience you will search information in relevant scientific literature, develop and implement analytical methods including method abstractJV_descriptions. You will work with instruction of students and researchers. You will work with extraction, preparation and running of large sample series, calculation of results, including quality assurance before the delivery and communication of results to students and researchers.

You will be in close collaboration with researchers and other technicians and you will be part of our lab-team of eight technicians. It is expected that you in the longer run will support other analytical tasks in the team as e.g. GCMS and LCMS.

Education and experience with ICP-MS


The candidate of choice has more than 5 years of relevant practical experience with ICP-MS and competencies on a bachelor level. It will be attractive to have experience from a certified laboratory.

• In depth knowledge of different types of MS software, data, and data treatment

Salary and appointment terms

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.

The position is full time with start on August 1, 2019.

The working place will be at DTU Lyngby Campus.
