Are you the talented Structural engineer that can combine business requirements and drive the development of our structural tower design? Then we've got the challenge for you. Technology & Service Solutions /Rotor, Towers & Control/Tower Engineering/Alternative Towers & Foundations Towers & Foundations in Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. Alternative Towers & Foundations is a sub-department of Tower Engineering. The department is responsible for design and certification of standard gravity foundations as well as alternative foundation concepts. The department is also responsible for design and certification of alternative tower concepts until such time the concept has been verified both technically and commercially and is then transferred to the Standard Tower & Internals Department for further development and maintenance/execution. Offshore towers are also part of the responsibility of the Alternative Towers & Foundations sub-department. Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. The team is located at 3 different sites: Aarhus and Lem in Denmark and in Hamburg, Germany. The team consists of 9 highly skilled engineers with background in mechanical and civil engineering. Responsibilities: As Engineer you will report to the manager of the Alternative Towers & Foundations and your primary responsibility will be participating in design of towers and further develop/optimize design processes, in particular FEA-based structural assessments of towers and foundations Proposing and implementing design improvements Documenting the results development and optimization of FE models and post-processing tools Qualifications: Bachelor or Master's degree in Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering Experience in design and assessment of welded or casted steel structures from either the wind turbine or offshore industry is an advantage +2 years' experience in structural assessments using FEA Competencies: You will be working in a busy environment with high focus on execution. You therefore need to be structured and have attention to details. Experience within several of the following disciplines is expected: FEA (preferably ANSYS Classic / ADPL), Structural Analysis, Fatigue Analysis, Tools Programming and CAD (preferably Pro/E). You are able to keep a critical eye on your FE models and results, in order to obtain and maintain a high quality level in your work You have good communication skills and possess English skills at a high level . You have an understanding of the wind turbine business and are able to make decisions based on business priorities.
