For our Mechanical Design Department within Technology (TE) we are looking for a dedicated and ambitious Head of Value Engineering. The Technology Department in Siemens Wind Power is responsible for developing and maintaining the wind turbines for all markets, on- and offshore. The wind power market of today is highly competitive and it is getting increasingly important to be able to cost out existing products along with developing the new ones. What are my responsibilities? · Develop cost out measures through project management of a team of senior engineers appointed from line organisation · Keep constant cost out pipeline overview, compiled from the organisation · Manage standards, templates, processes for use in generation of a cost out pipeline through to consistent business cases in PLM (Product Life Cycle Management) · Develop product cost awareness and methodology in the organisation, challenge designs and specification with cost focus · Reporting to Wind Power (WP) management · Drive cost out initiatives in and across modules, supplier workshops, benchmarking, cost analysis etc · Point of contact to PLM for measure identification for Product update projects, feeds cost out measures proactively to PLM · Drive target setting process and provide module teams with targets, aligned with Procurement and TE management · Challenge measure generation from the entire organisation · Owner of TE cost out reporting, operationally supported by TE Business Support (BS) What do I need to qualify for this job? · You may have an educational background as an engineer, but a financial background, combined with solid technical insight may also qualify – the right experience is equally important to your education · You have + 5 years of experience within design and manufacturing and understand what drives product costs · You have good project management skills · You have a thorough technical understanding and know how to balance technical and commercial aspects of product design and documentation · You are well structured and have a hands-on attitude towards suppliers, production and engineers · You understand the dynamics of a large organisation and its processes · You work well with all parts of the organization · You are outgoing, self-starting and takes initiative · You are influential, convincing and persistent · You possess good communication skills and the ability to communicate complicated, number based material across - both down- and upwards in organization In case you have acquired your skills in alternative ways your application is just as well appreciated.
