DTU Food at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as PhD student on the topic: ”The application of human stem cells for predicting human safety of chemicals” The PhD fellowship is funded by the Technical University of Denmark and the Danish Food Ministry. The vision of the project is to improve the strategies for prediction human safety of chemicals, by applying novel and sustainable approaches that will increase the quality and efficiency of safety testing of chemicals. The successful candidate will be based at the National Food Institute at the Technical University of Denmark in Søborg/Lyngby. Responsibilities and tasks The research will focus on addressing the role of chemical exposure in the development of adverse effects in humans, unraveling mechanisms of action of various environmental chemicals, and developing novel models based on human stem cell biology and high content imaging for more accurate and efficient testing of potential harmful effects of chemicals. Qualifications The candidate must have obtained a Master's (M.Sc.) degree in life science or a similar degree at a similar academic level. A high motivation for research and solid written and oral communication skills in English are prerequisites of any successful application. The successful candidate will have an M.Sc degree in Molecular Biomedicine, Human Biology, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or related discipline, evidence of research experience, and significant exposure to one or more of the following areas: endocrine disrupting chemicals, stem cell work or work with various cell cultures, and high content analysis.
