The Department of Civil Engineering (DTU Civil Engineering) at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in the broad area of (fiber-reinforced) cementitious materials. Active areas of research include but are not limited to multi-physics and multi-scale modelling approaches in cementitious materials, experimental and numerical determination of mechanical properties in fiber-reinforced concrete, and monitoring and real-time sensing of civil engineering structures. DTU Civil Engineering seeks candidates who can add to the existing strengths in cementitious materials’ research at the department, who can pursue innovative and impactful research, and who will find active research collaborations with our current staff. Responsibilities and tasks The ideal candidate for the postdoctoral position has a strong background in (fiber-reinforced) cementitious material. The postdoctoral fellow is expected to have extensive knowledge and interest in service life modelling as well as multi-physics and multi-scale modelling approaches to enable realistic and reliable long-term performance predictions as well as assessment of reinforced concrete structures. In addition, previous experience with fiber-reinforced cementitious materials is required including experimental and numerical determination of mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced concrete. Furthermore, competences with respect to monitoring and real-time sensing techniques of civil engineering structures are desired. The postdoc will be responsible for conducting innovative and impactful research and managing research projects in the broad field of cementitious materials in collaboration with industrial project partners. The successful candidate is also expected to take on responsibilities concerning guidance and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. Further qualifications: •The candidate should have extensive experience working with (fiber-reinforced) cementitious materials. •Background in service life modelling. •Experience with multi-scale modelling techniques in cementitious materials. •Strong competences in experimental and numerical determination of mechanical properties of fiber-reinforced concrete. •Good command of oral and written English.
