- Research & Development - Denmark - Måløv If you have a passion for research into new and improved treatment of patients with obesity you may be the candidate we are looking for. We need a dedicated principal scientist to be part of our Obesity Biology department. Besides obesity, the Global Research Unit of Novo Nordisk specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for long-term micro-vascular complications of diabetes. We conduct our research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing and Seattle. About the department Obesity Biology is organised within Global Research and is located in Måløv, Copenhagen area, Denmark. We are a dynamic team comprising 9 scientists and 13 technicians engaged in all stages of obesity research from generation of project ideas to scientific support of development projects. Based on strong understanding of disease biology, we deliver high quality in vitro screening data and mechanism of action studies and generate ideas for new and improved treatment of obesity in collaboration with the Novo Nordisk obesity site in Seattle. The position The responsibility of the department is to be the leading experts within obesity biology and you will be expected to hold such high standards. Your tasks will include support of our obesity research projects with in vitro biology expertise and strong disease knowledge as well as establishment of new projects that aim at improving treatment of patients with obesity. You will represent the department in cross-functional project teams where you will be responsible for delivering in vitro data for lead optimisation and lead candidate selection as well as preclinical mechanism of action hypotheses and in vitro/ex vivo data. In addition, you will work closely with the other scientists in the department to share knowledge and ideas, and you will be responsible for supervising one or more technicians. Qualifications You hold a degree in biology, human biology, pharmacy, medicine or related area. You have a very strong disease understanding related to obesity and metabolism, expertise in setting up in vitro assay systems and a broad background in cellular and molecular biology. You have completed your PhD and have 8+ years of working experience with a proven publication record and a large international network. Experience from the pharmaceutical industry and with the drug discovery process is a big advantage. As a person you are proactive and engaged with a can do attitude.
