Copenhagen Local/International Geoscience Ref.: MO-052602 The Non-Conventional Hydrocarbon Maturation Team is a part of the Maersk Oil Danish Business unit and is driving an initiative to potentially monetize the large resource potential in the Upper Jurassic Formation of the Danish Central Graben. This potential is largely of unconventional nature and this project is therefore probing new ground in terms of descriptive G&G models and production methodology. This a flagship project with large implications for the future of Maersk Oil in Denmark in case of success. We Offer A role in a dedicated project team, building a clear road map for understanding existing data and defining the key steps towards testing the commerciality of the Farsund Formation. This involves cross-disciplinary approaches and close cooperation with subsurface personnel in the existing asset teams and the Danish Exploration team. The responsibility of the Senior Geophysicist is technical contribution towards building correct structural frameworks for the reservoir models, developing data acquisition plans and driving QI workflows to help understand distribution of sweetspots in the stratigraphy. Key Responsibilities Your main responsibility will be to proactively implement improvements to current, and investigating new geophysical workflows and processes to unlock this play. Among other things this means: •Initiating stratigraphic and structural interpretations and QI studies •Ensuring that geophysical understanding is integrated when making decisions regarding data collection, well placement, completion, and further appraisal activities. •Providing assessment of uncertainties of parameters (like depth, porosity, permeability) that are partly geophysically driven from depth conversion, seismic inversion or other QI driven approaches. •Pursuing scope for increased oil recovery in the short, medium and long term for other low-permeability plays. You will help mentor and develop junior geoscience staff for generalist and specialist careers and you will through proficient coordination and communication ensure effective cooperation with external and internal parties. In this regard you will be working closely with the geophysics teams in the company headquarters to improve seismic data quality. Who we are looking for You are a candidate with a MSc in Geology/Geophysics or higher degree and have a relevant industry experience on a senior level. We expect you to have experience in •Plays with low permeability or unconventional plays •Structural/stratigraphic interpretation •QI •Unconventional reservoir characterization and depth conversion •Static modelling experience (would be a key advantage) •Geological risk and uncertainty assessment •Seismic processing techniques and QC As a person you are a team player with strong analytical abilities and good cross disciplinary knowledge. You are a good communicator and skilled in influential interaction across disciplines and cultures.
