Copenhagen Local / International Geoscience Ref.: MO-056793 Maersk Oil is looking for an experienced and dedicated geologist to join its Global Production Development (GPD) department at its head office in Copenhagen. GPD is responsible for field development planning and Business Development support for a wide range of Maersk Oil’s global development portfolio activities. Currently GPD is engaged in field development projects in Norway, UK, Qatar, Kazakhstan, Algeria and Kurdistan while also being involved with business development activities across the globe. We Offer A senior geoscience role within an integrated technical team working with development studies and field development planning. The position provides the opportunity to be part of a high performing, technical ambitious and cultural diverse working environment. Project teams in GPD are cross-disciplinary, consisting of geoscientists, reservoir engineers and conceptual engineers. Some projects teams are fully co-located, while others are geographically distributed and therefore include a virtual team component. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a highly varied portfolio of technical challenges covering the spectrum from tight and structurally complex, fractured carbonates, to high permeability deep water and shallow marine siliciclastic reservoirs. The position will provide extensive exposure to new technology and workflows, as well as, continuous opportunities for learning and development with respect to effective stakeholder and partner involvement. Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for reservoir characterization work and the establishment of geological reservoir models. Depending on the level of experience the successful candidate is expected to take part in technical peer assists and reviews within GPD and also intermittently provide support and advice to development activities in other parts of the Maersk Oil organization. The role entails: • Integration of petrophysical, geological and geophysical data interpretations into a coherent conceptual framework • Construction of 3D geocellular models suitable for fluid distribution assessments, volumetric calculations, uncertainty estimations and reservoir simulation • Quantify geologic uncertainties • Continuous efforts to ensure close collaboration and communication with all relevant disciplines, creating joint discipline ownership of the 3D static model representations developed • Maintenance of continuous and constructive engagement with partners and other stakeholders. • Potential for assignment to short term project teams evaluating business development opportunities Who we are looking for • 8+ years oil industry experience with significant exposure to field development planning in integrated teams • Advanced static modelling skills (preferably Petrel) including integration of petrophysics, rock physics, quantitative seismic interpretation, depositional models and reservoir engineering information • Robust insight into static and dynamic uncertainty analysis and methodologies • Ability to handle complex integrated problems and dive into detail where needed. • Comprehensive understanding of key aspects of reservoir characterization • Knowledge of a range of structural regimes and depositional environments • Broad understanding of other subsurface disciplines • Self-starter with strong analytical skills and the ability to effectively work in a dynamic, multicultural and multidisciplinary environment • Team player with a desire to continuous develop and learn from others • Strong communicator with a good understanding of organizational dynamics and the ability to comfortably navigate in a complex working environment with multiple stakeholders and partnerships • Experience with data rooms and evaluation of acquisition opportunities • Fluency in both written and spoken technical English. • MSc. level or hi
