Senior Research Scientist in Micro and Nano Structuring of/for Functional Surfaces

DTU, Department of Mechanical Engineering, the section for Manufacturing Engineering is searching for a senior research scientist to work in the area of micro and nano structuring of/for functional surfaces. Responsibilities and tasks The position focuses on research in the area of precision manufacturing of functional surfaces by structuring at the micro- and nano dimensional scales with special emphasis on establishing a substantial research activity based on external funding from national and international funding bodies. High quality scientific publications will be of utmost importance to position the activity internationally. The position will hold a large element of project management and coordination of funded projects. Teaching will be focused primarily on supervision of projects. Qualifications Candidates must •hold a PhD degree or equivalent as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as Researcher or Postdoc. •document didactic/pedagogic training Furthermore, the successful candidate: •must have a strong competence in manufacturing engineering, in particular in micro structuring technologies including thermal, chemical and mechanical material removal and deposition processes as well as replication processes. •must have a strong competence in metrology and quality assurance methods at this particular scale. •should have extensive experience in experimental approaches for process analysis as well as modelling of processing technologies. •should have demonstrated the ability to develop and maintain academic and industrial collaborations including project management experience of industry oriented research projects.
