Data Architect and Coordinator for Danish Colorectal Cancer Center South

Danish Colorectal Cancer Center South (DCCCS) is looking for a senior "Big Data" architect. The newly established DCCCS has initiated a programme of large-scale aggregation of clinical data across hospital departments in order to support and facilitate research and development. The position will hold the primary responsibility for the practical implementation of this programme. We are looking for a person to manage the development, coordination and implementation of the data collection strategy of DCCCS. As part of the center strategy, we are currently building a prospective cohort of patients treated at the hospital, and we are looking to develop a structure of data aggregation across departments and clinical systems that will allow for large cohort studies and support the conduct of prospective clinical trials. The job will be a combination of data architecture development, coordination of data collection activities between the participating hospital departments, and support and active engagement in clinical research. The data architect will work closely with database developers within the Region of Southern Denmark and clinical data specialists in the hospital administration in order to build the data infrastructure. The right candidate for the position • has experience working with clinical cancer data, preferably including radiology and radiotherapy data • can work with large and complex data structures and has experience with data mining and learning algorithms • understands database structure and development • holds a relevant scientific degree, preferably a PhD • experience with clinical research is a central requirement. Danish Colorectal Cancer Center South is a new center of clinical excellence in the Region of Southern Denmark. It represents cooperation among several departments, including clinical oncology, surgery, radiotherapy, radiology and pathology. The mission of the center is to raise colorectal cancer treatment and research to an international level based on personalized treatment and shared decision making. The DCCCS is situated at Vejle Hospital, which is the only dedicated cancer hospital in Denmark. The hospital serves a population of around 0.8 million people in the Region of Southern Denmark, and is associated with the University of Southern Denmark. Salary according to qualifications will follow the collective agreement for academic employees in the Danish regions.
