Department As head of Electrical Engineering you will be a member of the Service Engineering function. The Service Engineering function consists of 30 (growing to +40) employees that operate across Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) and Service with interfaces and cooperation with the entire Vestas value chain, external suppliers and partners. Service Engineering provides innovative and differentiating service solutions within the areas of Maintenance Optimization, Parts & Repair, and Product Improvement for the installed fleet. The Electrical Engineering department is one of three sub-departments in Service Engineering and consists of 7 (growing to 10) engineers and 1 technical assistant, and are handling and developing the aftermarket solutions related to electrical systems and components incl. controller components, generators, converters, transformers and turbine software. Responsibilities: As head of Electrical Engineering you will: Build the competences required to successfully execute the departments mission and strategy Coach and lead the department’s employees Manage the deliverables from the Electrical Engineering department Negotiate and ensure engineering resource allocation with project managers and heads from other functional areas in order to execute the Electrical Engineering deliverables. Participate in project initiation to tailor the technical part of the project plan and align scope and deadlines with project managers and relevant stakeholders, define technical work packages, identify competence and resource needs for technical work packages, incl. for the outsourcing of technical tasks. Be accountable of project deliverable progress and quality. Play a leading role in setting up collaboration with external solution providers within the electrical domain Play a major role in bridge-building between Service Engineering and the rest of Technology & Service Solutions (TSS) as well as other key stakeholders in Vestas Be responsible for the Electrical Engineering department’s budget and spend Be a member of the Service Engineering leadership team Qualifications: The position requires profound leadership skills and experience, as well as good electrical engineering skills. It is vital that the right person has a clear and unambiguous understanding of what is important and a compelling drive to do whatever it takes. The position requires ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire employees, and it requires the ability to strengthen others by increasing self-determination and developing competence. You must be able to communicate clearly and with conviction to stakeholders on all levels in the organisation. Additionally the position requires a strong ability to plan, make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment, and it is a requirement that the person in this position is responsive and willing to take ownership of issues and drive solutions and execution excellence. The ideal candidate has the following qualifications: A relevant degree (Bachelor or Master’s) in Engineering Relevant commercial or business administration degree (Bachelor, MBA etc.) as a supplement to your engineering degree 5-8 years’ experience as people manager of engineers, preferably related to R&D or service and repair of Wind Turbines or rotating heavy equipment Excellent leadership skills; communication, coaching, mentoring, motivating and developing engineers and technical specialists.
