We are looking for an experienced lead mechanical engineer with expertise in FE, weldings and structural design. Lead Mechanical Engineer, Nacelle Rear Structure Technology & Service Solutions is the cornerstone of Vestas. Through innovation, development and continuous product improvement we develop the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers and to Vestas. To put it short: Vestas Technology & Service Solutions develops the wind power systems of the future. Nacelle Rear Structure is a part of the Vestas Technology & Service Solutions. We have sites both in Denmark and India. The department is responsible for the design and integrity of the Nacelle Rear Structure. The Rear Structure is a vital part of the Nacelle and must be designed to carry all of the heavy components and support systems inside the Nacelle. We are responsible for design, analysis and validation from the early concept study for new turbines to the final specification for production. Responsibilities: Generating creative solutions to design challenges, in order to fulfil the product and technology road maps Delivering design work to gate reviews and to the project, matching specifications for function, cost, quality and time Working successfully with the departmental and project delivery teams by living up to the Vestas Values. Maintaining awareness of engineering practices and technology developments Safe working in line with the Health, Safety and Environment policy Furthermore, you are accountable for understanding, clarifying and documenting: Design specifications and requirements Design performance and reliability including lifetime estimates of the design Design verification and validation Design risk associated to the design Design safety Qualifications: M.Sc. within Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar Approximately 4 years of experience preferably within wind industry You have experience in structural analysis Understanding of and/or interest in system engineering Capable of working with global suppliers and delegating and creating results through those as part of own deliveries Competencies: Skilled in mechanical engineering and design Skilled in structural analysis using FE tools, preferably Ansys Knowledge about FE scripting Experience with extreme and fatigue analysis Skilled in structural verification of bolt connections Experience in materials and their properties Experience in wind turbine design and 3rd party certification Knowledge of system engineering tools like DFMEA, HSE assessments, documentation High degree of personal planning Accountable and focus on delivering on time Good English communication skills You should be able to identify with our values: Proactive mindset Passionate What we offer: We offer an exciting job with excellent opportunities for professional and personal development in an inspiring environment at the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturer.
