The Department of Wind Energy in the Technical University of Denmark (DTU Wind Energy) is seeking a Postdoc for the Integration and Planning Section (INP). You will be part of the international team carrying out research in wind farm power performance and grid integration, where the working language is English. Our research is function oriented in the sense that we direct the research towards issues that are relevant for industrial development and applications, and we work in projects with wind farm operation, power performance, short-term prediction and system support functionality. Responsibilities and tasks During the PossPOW project, DTU Wind Energy has developed a real-time wind farm power curve including wake effects for the assessment of the possible power of downregulated offshore wind farms. The PostDoc will start from this development and conduct a full uncertainty analysis of the real-time power curve and the embedded PossPOW signal, including an identification of the parameters determining such uncertainty. As the possible power is conceptually transformed into reserve power to be traded on the reserve power market, the convolution of the signal uncertainty with forecasting uncertainty will be the next step. Finally, the algorithm uncertainty should be reduced using machine learning uncertainty reduction techniques. Tests on actual wind farms should show the benefits and accuracy of the uncertainty estimation. Additionally, help in teaching the section’s courses is appreciated, as is involvement in the conception and writing of funding proposals. Qualifications Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent. Further qualifications: We expect the candidate to have a background in integration of wind power in the grid, wind farm power performance and in wake modelling. More particularly, the candidate should hold qualifications within several of the following areas: - Expertise in real-time modelling of offshore wind farm flow - Expertise in grid connection requirements and grid codes - Experience in the analysis of large data sets of high-resolution wind farm data - Track record of publications in high-level scientific journals - Fluency in English (Danish knowledge appreciated) and ability/readiness to participate in team activities - Experience with teaching – lecturing as well as supervision - Experience with proposals for funding We offer We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment focusing on education, research, public-sector consultancy and innovation, which contribute to enhancing the economy and improving social welfare.
