The Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Environmental Technology (KBM), University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, invites applications for a vacant position as professor in chemical engineering and head of the newly established section SDU Chemical Engineering comprising 7 associate professors, 1 assistant professor, 6 post docs and 11 PhD students, and 1 technician. The Head of Section will have direct reference to the Head of Department, and will be part of the department management group together with the two other Heads of Units at the department. The candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the section, its teaching, research and innovation. The current research areas include: Development of membrane based methods for separation and concentration of nutrients from biowaste. Concentration of natural compounds from plants and algae. Crystallization of pharmaceuticals and other crystalline compounds. Process synthesis, design, simulation and optimization. Development of fuels cells and ceramic materials. Current educational responsibilities of the section include contributions to: Master of Science in Engineering – Chemistry (2 years) Bachelor in Chemistry and Biotechnology (3 years) Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering (3½ years) Qualifications The candidate must have a PhD or equivalent. The candidate is expected to have an excellent track record in: research and education in chemical engineering, attracting competitive research funding, collaborating with industry. Experience in innovation and bringing research results to the market will be highly valued. Leadership experience will also be highly valued.
