Department of Management Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a position as Professor in Design Engineering and Innovation Management. The professor will be attached to the division of Technology and Innovation Management. The division is expanding significantly and is organised within three research groups: Industrial Dynamics & Strategy; Entrepreneurship; and Design Engineering & Innovation. The new professor will be affiliated with the latter group. The group is characterized by a young and dynamic staff of approx. 20 researchers with strong research collaborations with industry and leading international universities, a successful track record of research applications to public and private research funds, and an increasing number of publications in leading international academic journals. Responsibilities and tasks Complementing the existing research team (currently one full professor, two associate professors, five assistant professors and a number of post docs and PhDs), the candidate will take responsibility for further developing the Design Engineering and Innovation research activities. In particular, this position includes taking a leading role in developing and growing the existing research team, leading ongoing research projects and alliances, developing new research areas through research applications, and further accelerating the overall academic publication output. Supervising and supporting PhDs and early career team members will also be a central task. The new professor is expected to take a lead positon in research-based teaching (with associated examination commitments) at the bachelor-, master- and PhD levels. The teaching includes contributions to the two 2-year programs leading to the M.Sc. in Design & Innovation and M.Sc. in Engineering Management, respectively. Contributions to the university’s executive teaching programmes are welcomed. Besides the central research and teaching tasks, DTU encourages professors to engage in innovation (e.g., industrial collaborations for developing new products) and/or research-based public sector consultancy. Dissemination of research results to the broader public is very welcomed. Qualifications We expect you to have competences in the following areas: •A strong track record of scholarly research and publications at an international level that has contributed to the further development of the subject area in question •Strong analytical skills and significant skills in empirical research methods •Documented and successful teaching experience at different levels related to the course areas offered by the department, in particular also at the PhD level •Documented didactic/pedagogic training •Experience in supervision and guidance of PhDs and research teams •Experience in designing and preparing applications for public or private funding for larger research projects and documented experience in research management, including the performance of management tasks linked to national or international projects, research programmes, conferences, etc. Assessment In the assessment of the candidates consideration will be given to •the ability to teach •scientific production at international level, research potential and ability to lead and develop a research team •the ability to promote and utilize research results •experience with innovation activities •an all-round experience basis, including international experience •the ability to contribute to the development of the Department’s internal and external cooperation •track record in attracting funding to the research area •visions within the research area For the specific position consideration will also be given to documented experience of at least one of the following topics: •Product development and engineering design processes •Innovation Management •Design theory methodology •Design support tools •Idea generation and creativity within
