The Carlsberg Research Laboratory is looking for a research scientist to strengthen our plant abiotic stress research team. You will join an experienced international team of scientists and work in a dynamic research environment. As Research Scientist you will join an experienced international team of scientists and work in a dynamic research environment. You will be part of a world leading global company with outstanding research facilities including excellently equipped laboratories, greenhouses and field testing facilities. Your research will benefit from cross functional synergism with ongoing research projects spanning from strategic research in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology in plants to the implementation and application through breeding. As Research Scientist you will be involved with and/or responsible for: You will work on the improvement of abiotic stress tolerance in barley. The goal is to identify molecular factors that have the potential to improve stress tolerance and to transfer this knowledge into breeding targets. To this end you will identify physiological pathways, target genes, proteins and metabolic compounds that can confer abiotic stress tolerance. You will develop and use screening assays for the analysis of new stress tolerance traits and work closely together with the breeding unit to ensure the implementation of your results. The project requires strong initiative from your side with the opportunity to influence the direction of your work in accordance with the general project scope. Research supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students will be part of your responsibility as well. Your profile: •You have a PhD degree in plant physiology, plant molecular biology, or a related field and preferably three or more years of postdoctoral research experience with a strong track-record of productivity as documented e.g. by publications. •You have excellent knowledge and hands-on experience in physiological, cellular, molecular, biochemical, and genetic analysis of plants, preferably with focus on abiotic stress parameters. •Ideally you have experience in working with crop plants. •Experience in trait development and pre-breeding would be a great asset. •You are result-driven, independent and willing to develop the project further. You are expected to complement the existing skills in the team and therefore you should be highly motivated to work in a cross-functional manner, bring good communication skills and be a team player. •Your English is fluent.
