About the department The department, Diabetes Upstream and Downstream Development, is anchored in CMC Supply in Research & Development. The department is responsible for process development for new drug substance candidates for the entire diabetes portfolio at Novo Nordisk. This includes microbial cultivation, recovery and purification. We do so in close collaboration with the research unit as well as the pilot facilities to manufacture the proteins used for toxicological and clinical trials. The job is located in Bagsværd. Upstream Development Team Our main responsibility is to develop upstream process steps, cultivation and initial recovery, for the manufacturing of new active pharmaceutical proteins for future diabetes drugs. The job You will Plan, execute, evaluate and report experimental work in the laboratory, carried out both independently and in collaboration with team members. Support pilot and production facilities during production of material for clinical trials. Participate actively in the development and testing of new process technology and in the establishment of technology standards in cultivation and recovery, based on your relevant experience and knowledge. Take an active part in further building our knowledge and skills in both microbial cultivation and initial recovery processes. We expect you, To be motivated by challenges and have a “can-do” attitude.To be able to work independently and have the ability to look for opportunities instead of limitations and To participate actively in the project group as well as in the cross organisational project work. Qualifications You, Hold a PhD or master degree as chemical engineer, pharmacist, cand. scient. or similar. Have several years of practical experience with developing yeast cultivation processes in bioreactors at different scales. Experience with E.-coli cultivation processes and knowledge of initial recovery processes such as homogenisation and refolding is an advantage. You have solid experience in analysing data as this is the strong foundation of your input to discussions. We expect you to, Have knowledge and hands-on experience in working with bioreactors (batch, fed batch and continuous culture). Have experience with initial recovery processes such as centrifugation and filtration processes. Are able to spur enthusiasm and energy around you, and you possess strong networking and interpersonal skills. In addition to this, commitment to science and its industrial application, excellent communication skills, positive attitude and being a team player is expected from you.
