- Research Scientist - Denmark - Måløv The Incretin Biology Department at Novo Nordisk A/S is looking to employ a Research Scientist for a 1-year position (maternity leave substitute) with experience in establishing in vitro functional assays based on primary cells and tissues. About the department The Incretin Biology Department consists of an engaging and highly motivated team of 8 scientists, 14 technicians and 3 students and is organised within the area of Diabetes and Obesity Pharmacology, which is part of the Global Research Unit of Novo Nordisk A/S. It is located in Maaloev, Copenhagen area, Denmark. The department is responsible for the in vitro biology and in vitro pharmacology related to GLP-1/incretin-based therapies. We are involved in everything from new target identification to support of later stage projects. The job As a scientist in our department, you will be working in an engaging scientific environment. Your primary responsibility will be to plan and conduct in vitro assays in close collaboration with technicians. You will be part of a team focusing on meeting the increased need for establishing an in vitro-in vivo correlation and your main focus will be to identify and develop in vitro functional assays based on primary cells and tissues. You will work in project teams with scientists from other areas of diabetes and obesity research and in that role, you will be expected to participate in the scientific discussions and communicate and document your results. Furthermore, it is expected that you will keep up to date with scientific literature and participate in international scientific conferences and collaborations. You will refer directly to the department manager and will yourself be managing 1-2 technicians, whom you are expected to motivate and develop. Qualifications You hold a PhD or similar degree in the biological sciences, and preferably, you have wide experience from academia and/or the industry. You should have extensive experience in isolation of primary cells and tissues and in establishing functional assays. You are well read within biology, pharmacology, and physiology or similar. Knowledge of GLP-1/incretin biology and diabetes is preferable. You have a positive attitude, are a great team player, have good communications skills, are fluent in written and spoken English, and understand how to succeed in an international environment.
