The foundation is manned by 12 full-time staff and three student assistants. See http://www.worlddiabetesfoundation.org About the job Every year on World Diabetes Day, 14 November, grass root campaigns are organised which create awareness about the rising epidemic of diabetes. The World Diabetes Foundation’s contribution on World Diabetes Day is the Global Diabetes Walktm campaign with a particular focus on diabetes in developing countries. The Global Diabetes Walktm has existed since 2004 and primarily runs as a social media campaign, to enable Walk organisers to share their messages with peers around the world. Qualifications On a full time basis, you will be the backbone of our social media helpdesk, aiding and reporting to our communications section, and assisting our many walk coordinators around the world with guidance on how to register, download toolkits and other support. Initiating and maintaining social media initiatives will be your main responsibility. Therefore, you must be able to effectively deliver and reinforce consistent key messages at all levels and interact with key local and global stakeholders in developing countries. Post-evaluation of the impact of the social media campaign will be part of the internship. You are a strong communicator and have excellent intercultural and interpersonal skills. You are able to take initiative, while also maintaining a structured approach to planning and executing your innovative ideas. You have an interest in IT technology and a natural talent for using new platforms and interfaces. You are capable of working independently, yet also a strong team player. You are a student at bachelor or masters level (cand.comm., IT University or similar), preferably combined with the field of development studies. You have experience with different social media platforms, are well versed with content management systems (preferably Drupal). You are able to spot value adding online tweets and compelling human angles that can be shared on our social media platforms. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, graphic design, and MS Excel is preferred. Fluency in written and spoken English is a must, knowledge of Spanish/French or other languages will be an advantage. You may have experience from other online campaigns or volunteer work in order to better understand the dynamics of this volunteer-driven campaign.
