The nanotechnology center NanoSYD, Mads Clausen Institute, at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a 3 –year position as Assistant Professor in nanofabrication of plasmonic and photonic components. The starting date of the position is January 1, 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is part of the Danish lecturer training program. The position is related to activities around our newly installed Orion NanoFab Helium Ion Microscope. The Assistant prof. is expected to take a lead in developing and optimizing the nanofabrication including processes at our cleanroom facility and materials milling with focused Helium, Neon and Gallium ion beams, followed by optical characterization. The successful applicant will be also involved in upgrading the imaging and nanofabrication capabilities of the Orion NanoFab microscope. We offer a challenging position in an international and stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure for organic device fabrication and characterization and an excellent opportunity for collaboration both within SDU and with renowned international research groups. The successful applicant should have: • A PhD degree (or equivalent) within physics, engineering or a related topic • A strong background in nanofabrication and characterization techniques • Research experience within nano-optics and plasmonics • A strong academic record • Good collaboration and communication skills • Interest in co-supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD students connected to the project Following qualifications are preferred: • Experience with Helium Ion Microscopy, FIB milling or other nanostructuring methods • Experience with writing research applications • Experience in teaching and education It is mandatory for this position to follow the Danish lecturer training program.
