About the department Joining Scientific Computing at Novo Nordisk’s R&D site in Måløv, you will have 14 highly skilled colleagues dedicated to bridge life science research and computer science. We design, develop and operate specialised computer systems supporting early stages of Novo Nordisk’s drug research across our sites in Denmark, China and the US. The Global Research Unit specialises in the discovery of biological medicines for the treatment of type 1 and 2 diabetes. We also discover and develop new innovative biopharmaceuticals for haemophilia and growth disorders. Furthermore, we conduct stem cell and beta cell regeneration research and other early-stage investigations aimed at finding a cure for diabetes, as well as exploring novel treatments for obesity and long-term, micro-vascular complications of diabetes. The Global Research Unit consists of app. 1.500 highly qualified Scientists, PhDs/PostDocs and Lab Technicians, and we conduct our world class research from sites based in the Greater Copenhagen area, Beijing and Seattle.We always strive for excellence and continuously develop our expertise to stay ahead - as a company and as individuals. We believe innovation and creativity thrive in a healthy and engaging working environment The job Your overall objective is to promote use of advanced software in the development of new pharmaceutical products. As such, you will play an important role in the further development of our state-of-the-art research IT environment in close collaboration with the end-users, who are highly skilled scientists. Among your tasks will be to analyse research workflows, design solutions based on Oracle back-end systems and to consolidate/centralise raw data handling and processes. You will manage and participate in software development projects covering many aspects of computer science: client and server development, automation, logistics, supercomputing technologies etc. Additionally, you will have an important role as a liaison between IT staff/resources and research laboratories. You will also participate in support, operation & maintenance of our systems. Qualifications You hold an MSc or PhD degree in computer science, and you have profound knowledge and experience with Oracle or related database technologies. Additionally, you may already have experience with implementation of software solutions/automation in a laboratory environment. If you are newly graduated, you can use your thesis, student jobs, etc. as examples of experience. To succeed you must be highly structured, analytical and confident when solving assignments where tasks and workflows are not fully understood initially. You must thrive on working in a complex organisational environment with many stakeholders, and for this you need to be able to build convincing arguments.
