Join the Pump Hydraulics department in Bjerringbro, Denmark, which is part of Development & Engineering, Mechanical Development, and responsible for all new hydraulic development in Grundfos. We are 10 colleagues developing world-class pump hydraulics – designed for manufacturing, high quality, low cost and superior performance. And we cooperate with the global development organisation and production sites all over the world. You refer to Manager, Troels Jepsen. ”You join a relentlessly ambitious team where all components and products are developed through an extensive usage of simulations to design, optimise and verify their performance. The solutions are typically high technological designs with focus on energy efficiency used for application in drinking water wells, boosting water supply and circulation of water in industry and buildings,” Troels explains. What is the job about? As our new Development Engineer, you are responsible for the mechanical development of new pump hydraulic components like impellers, pump housings and chambers within development projects – including mechanical design, simulations, review, verification and documentation. This means working closely together with highly skilled pump designers and our high tech production organisation, using robust design techniques to develop the best overall product. Another part of your job is to work on platform projects, where you take part in front loading activities and develop and mature new hydraulic concepts. You constantly strive to improve our development platforms by automation and building advanced knowledge based CAD templates. Moreover, you work on platform development to investigate and ensure new technologies, like robust design and fluid structure interaction, are included and available in the development platform. “In this position, you use your knowledge about materials and production technology as well as mechanical simulations to design, verify and optimise weight, fatigue, vibration and strength. An important part of your new job is high quality documentation of your work, and your challenge will be to incorporate simulation-driven development into our processes to ensure and influence robust designs in the future,” Troels says. What do you need to apply? Preferably, you have an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, and maybe you have a few years of experience with finite element analysis (Ansys), topology optimisation and robust design. However, if you are newly graduated with no former working experience, you are also welcome to apply. Moreover, you have experience with knowledge based 3D CAD modelling, preferably Catia, as well as 2D drawings, including GPS, and you possess knowledge about materials such as casting, sheet metal, composite and aluminium. You speak and write English fluently, and it is a plus if you also speak Danish. “On a personal level, you have great interpersonal skills and thrive when working with colleagues and other parts of the organisation. And finally, you are structured and conscientious, which enables you to ensure high quality and timely deliverables,” Troels finishes.
