MDs are at the very heart of our business in Novo Nordisk. They develop new therapies for life-threatening diseases, they manage clinical trials, are responsible for the safety of our medicines and part of submission and approval process with health authorities globally. MDs have the important task of sharing new insights with physicians and researchers all over the world. In short, MDs at Novo Nordisk play a key role in all the different stages of the drug development process.

Three areas employing Medical Doctors 

In Medical & Science, MDs are medically and scientifically responsible for the clinical trial programme and other clinical activities. You will play a leading role in designing clinical trials, provide medical oversight in the trial conduct phase, interpret and document trial results and support submissions to health authorities. You will also have a key role as author for the publication of the clinical trial data, as well as engaging in interaction with scientific experts and health authorities to achieve the best possible clinical development programmes. 

In Global Medical Affairs, MDs are an integral part of the development and commercialisation of new products. They play a critical role in supporting our clinical activities, ensuring consistent communication across all phases in our clinical trial programmes, including material for medical guidance and education and for international congresses. In addition, an important task is to have dialogue with expert in advisory boards, provide guidance on disease areas and existing products to colleagues across the world in order to ensure that the development of our marketing materials is based on the latest scientific data. 

In Global Safety, MDs are monitoring and performing medical assessment on adverse events reported in clinical trials and from the marketed product to ensure that our labels are correct, and that our products are of the highest quality and pose the lowest possible risk to patients. MDs also advise on relevant mitigating actions to prevent or minimise the risks associated with the products. They play a key role during signal detection activities and the preparation of periodic safety update reports, as well as answering requests from regulatory authorities and assisting in the filing process of new medicines from a patient safety perspective. 

You may expect travel activity but the level depends on the specific role and area. 

The workplace is our office buildings in Søborg and Bagsværd in Denmark. 

Qualifications

The level of experience we are looking for when hiring MDs varies and depends on many aspects, but a university degree as MD is a must and a PhD degree and some clinical and/or research experience is considered a big plus. The majority of the MD’s we hire do not have previous experience from the pharmaceutical industry so don’t hold back if you don’t have industry experience. 

Stakeholder management and the ability to engage and motivate people are key to your success and you should have a genuine interest in understanding the people you are working with throughout the phases of a given project. 

It is essential that you have a strong analytical mind-set and good communication and training skills. You are flexible, open-minded and a dedicated team player with the ability to take on an informal leadership role. In addition, you thrive in a global environment of continuous and fast development with focus on high quality and results. 

Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
