Copenhagen Local/Expat Geoscience Ref.: MO-049734 The Tyra field is a part of the Maersk Oil Danish Business unit and is Denmark’s largest gas field. This complex, offshore chalk field has been on production for 30 years with over 100 wells, many of which are long horizontals. The process facilities on Tyra East and West are host to a number of satellite developments. After 30 years of production and subsidence driven by Chalk compaction, the Tyra facilities are due for renewal and/or rationalisation. A strategy to extend the Tyra life by another 30 years and further develop the satellite fields is under implementation by the Tyra Asset Team. Development of its flanks continues, in this context, with a new platform and 12 wells, the first of which will spud by the end of 2014. We Offer The fields in the Tyra Centre asset comprise oil and gas producing Danian and Maastrichtian chalk, gas producing Middle Jurassic sandstones and oil producing tight Lower Cretaceous limestones with varying applications of stimulation and completion technology. The field maturity ranges from yet undeveloped fields, including HPHT reservoirs, to fields with some 30 years production history requiring evaluation of secondary recovery and artificial lift options to maximise recovery and subsidence mitigation measures to maintain well integrity. The responsibility of the Senior Geophysicist is well implementation support of the Danian gas reservoirs and reservoir studies to drive the further development of the Tyra Asset. The work will be conducted in a multi-discipline environment with close interaction with other Maersk Oil departments. Key Responsibilities •Initiating stratigraphic and structural interpretations and QI studies •Ensuring that geophysical understanding is integrated when making decisions regarding well placement, completion, reservoir management and further development activities. •Provide assessment of uncertainties of parameters (like depth, porosity) that are partly geophysically driven from depth conversion and seismic inversion. •Internally and externally representing Maersk Oil on geophysics matters. Proficient coordination and communication ensuring effective cooperation with external and internal parties. •Proactively identifying and implementing improvements to current geophysical workflows and processes. •Working closely with the Geophysics teams in the company headquarters to improve seismic data quality. •Actively developing the geophysics/geoscience community within Maersk Oil. •Pursuing scope for increased oil recovery in the short, medium and long term. •Helping develop junior geoscience staff for generalist and specialist careers. Who we are looking for We are looking for a candidate with a BSc in Geology/Geophysics or higher degree with relevant senior level industry experience, e.g. carbonate geophysics. Furthermore you have significant experience within structural/stratigraphic interpretation, QI and reservoir characterization and depth conversion. Static modelling and 4D/reservoir management experience would be a significant advantage. You should also preferably have a sound understanding of geological risk and uncertainty assessment and knowledge of seismic processing techniques and QC. As a person you are a team player with strong analytical abilities and very good communications and cooperation skills.
