Copenhagen Local/International Reservoir/Petroleum Engineering Ref.: MO-046762 The Halfdan field is Denmark’s number one oil producer. It has been developed with long horizontal wells in low permeability chalk with a long transition zone. The injector/producer pattern has been stimulated using matrix acid stimulation and induced fractures whose growth is controlled by step rate tests. Repeated seismic surveys over the field have resulted in a world class 4D data set. Other surveillance techniques applied to monitor the waterflood include coil tubing based PLTs, fibre-optic logs, tracers tests, interference tests, temperature and pressure monitoring of permanent downhole gauges, regular well and reservoir reviews. The position calls for an engineer who is capable of integrating the information and who can drive best in class waterflood management for Halfdan. Key Responsibilities • Drive the Halfdan waterflood, by integrating available information and by identifying and implementing improvements. • Liaise with the Halfdan study team to incorporate the analysis of the 4D seismic in surveillance and intervention plans • Quantify risks to voidage replacement like scaling, corrosion, H2S and develop a mitigation plan • Define and mature surveillance activities to improve the understanding of sweep. Use the results of an upcoming monitor well that will provide a repeat logging option of the deeper parts of the transition zone. • Mature intervention opportunities to improve sweep and to remove bottlenecks • Introduce technology and concepts to address injector-producer shortcuts, caused by reservoir heterogeneity or uncontrolled fractured growth • Mentor less experienced engineers Who we are looking for The position is for a Senior reservoir engineer with a broad background in both operations and reservoir studies, especially skilled in management of waterflooding carbonate fields. • The successful candidate will be self-motivated, self-reliant, possess strong analytical, technical and communication skills, enjoy mentoring less experienced engineers and working in a multi-disciplinary environment and have the ability to engage and motivate others • MSc degree in petroleum or reservoir engineering with at least 8 years relevant experience in the oil industry. • Experience within mature waterfloods, well and reservoir management, production test analysis, production logging interpretation, fluid sampling and analysis, and good understanding of petroleum engineering, well services and geosciences. • Fluent in written and spoken technical English and a team player with good communication skills. *LI-HJ1 Last application date: 29 June 2014.
