PhD scholarship in Energy System Analysis in Modelling, Transport Fuels and Future Scenarios for the Danish Energy System

The Systems Analysis Division at DTU Management Engineering has a vacancy as Ph.D. in the Energy Systems Analysis Group. The Energy Systems Analysis Group provides research within the field of energy, environment and economy. The programme is a cross-disciplinary research unit employing 23 scientists/senior scientists and Ph.D.-students with expertise in economics, operations research and/ or technical research. The research is project oriented in collaboration with Danish and international research institutes. Responsibilities and tasks •Modelling of transport systems as part of future energy systems •Modelling of fuel production technologies •Development of future transport scenarios •Application of linear programming and when relevant integer and stochastic programming •Minimization of costs and environmental impacts of future energy systems •Analysis of different scenarios for future joint development of the transport and energy system •Policy analysis promoting investments and behavioural change The research will require competences within mathematical modelling. Further competences within national energy system analysis and chemical or thermal engineering will be an advantage. As part of the Ph.D. project the student is expected to contribute to teaching at the M.Sc. in Sustainable Energy at DTU. Qualifications Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. Approval and Enrolment The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU.
